Special Seasonal Offerings!

NEW!
Maple Sugar Making
Coming for February & March 2008

Visit our new Maple Sugar Shack.  Enjoy this old-time activity, taste the sweet results and learn about the forest and the trees.  Made possible by a grant from Con Edison.

Old-fashioned Apple Cider Making
(Fall)

Enjoy an autumn day at the Nature Center, and learn all about apples and the time-honored art of cider making.  With our antique-style family apple press, we will demonstrate how to squeeze apple pumice into sweet cider.  All participants will try their hand at chopping and pressing fresh apples from local orchards!  Learn old-time apple games, and stories from the days of Johnny Appleseed.  This is a fun, authentic, rural experience for your class, complete with a taste of pasteurized cider and doughnuts for all.  Please make your reservation early, this program promises to be very popular!
All 'Bout Critters
(Winter)

In this special winter program we bring the animals to you when the weather is too cold for very young students to come on a study tour at the Center. Classes will see live animals up close, and learn about their habits and adaptations.   Expect to see birds, turtle, snakes, mammals and insects.
