Rye Habitat Project

Rye residents in conjunction with Friends of Rye Nature Center are organizing to make Rye City the first National Wildlife Federation certified “Community Wildlife Habitat” TM in the New York State. The certification will give Rye a unique distinction and improve our environmental quality of life.

What is a Community Wildlife Habitat?

Help us make Rye the first "Certified Wildlife Habitat" TM in New York State!

Simply by clicking the link below, you bring us one step closer to certifying Rye at New York's first "Community Wildlife Habitat" TM.

“ Community Wildlife Habitat” TM is a nationwide program of the National Wildlife Federation through which the community encourages sustainable gardening and landscaping practices and provides “habitat” – food, plants, water, shelter, and nesting sites for butterflies, birds, frogs and other beautiful and beneficial wildlife. The community provides these elements in individual backyards, on school grounds and in public areas such as parks, places of worship and business. It creates a place where people, flora, fauna can all flourish and where anyone in the community can make a small contribution in the contribution to huge environmental achievement. There are many communities already certified around the country and others on the way – but no one in New York so far. Let’s be the first!
