Blind Brook Riparian Restoration - Informal Workshop

With each major storm and heavy rain, erosion along Blind Brook at Rye Nature Center has worsened, exposing more tree roots, destabilizing streambanks, and degrading the surrounding floodplain.

For the past five years, FRNC has worked to secure the funding needed to plan, design, permit, and now implement a comprehensive restoration of a 1,660-foot stretch of this critical corridor. This workshop series will explore that journey, including background information, the current condition of the floodplain, the project’s funding and permitting process, design iterations, planned restoration interventions, and the long-term ecological and resilience benefits.

These educational workshops are FREE to attend and made possible through a grant from New York Community Trust–Westchester, which also helped support the project’s earlier planning, design, and permitting phases.
