Friends of Rye Nature Center is an independent, not-for-profit organization that offers programs to people of all ages and abilities. We encourage conservation, provide environmental education, and support our community's access to nature, year-round. We are the stewards of the City of Rye's 47-acre preserve, the Rye Nature Center.

The Rye Nature Center is a wildlife preserve located in the middle of Rye. The preserve's green space includes over two miles of trails as well as special features like ponds, streams, and granite outcroppings. The property's original carriage house provides indoor classroom space and offices for the Center's operations.

Our Mission Has Three Core Directives:

CONSERVATION: We preserve, protect, and manage the forest and natural landscape so it can be studied and enjoyed by our community for future generations.

EDUCATION: FRNC educators provide hands-on, immersive experiences for all ages to foster a respect for and connection to the natural world.

COMMUNITY: Our collaboration with other not-for-profit groups and local families ensures that nature is accessible to everyone. Through donor-supported scholarships and funding, we provide environmental education and programming.
